We ate these up quick! They are a very tasty and excellent vegan/plant based option for hiking, back packing and camping. Quick and easy to make. These dehydrated camping meals were the best plant based ones I’ve tried. Definitely recommend.

This plant-based camping meal is super convenient and packs some nice flavor. The lentils and seasoning make it hearty enough for a trail snack or light meal, and it’s ready pretty fast with just hot water. You can actually see the ingredients, which is a plus, and the packaging holds up well even when you're stirring with a fork. Great if you want a vegan option that’s warm, filling, and easy to make on the go.

One of my all-time favourite meals is Shepherd's Pie. Before ordering this 2-pack for emergency or camping use from brand NOMAD NUTRITION I have to admit I was skeptical about how it might possibly taste by comparison to a properly prepared dish. But ultimately, that is not the actual point of ordering packs of outdoor, rationed-style food like this. The point is to have this item in case of a survival emergency, so although it is in fact, decidedly tasty, it certainly does not come out looking the same. But it will do the job of providing me with protein, energy and nourishment when the scenario someday occurs that I require it.For what it offers, this value pack is truly lightweight, and also fairly filling. it also happens to be vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free meals, and are easy to cook over an open burner or flame when I really need some. 5 stars.

The pouch is difficult to open. The tear strip does not tear that easily. I had to use scissors to get the strip cut off so I could actually open the pouch. Instructions are easy to follow. My chief concern with this type of packaging is getting the pouch to seal again. Half the time it works and half the time it doesn't. After leaving the package to cook for 15 minutes it was ready to eat. Not exactly a 5 star meal but it is food. The contents were mostly cooked. They were not mushy , but more on the al dente side. The package is light weight to carry so for camping you can take a good number of pouches with you. For the stated purpose it is okay. Would I buy this again? Yes.

As a light-weight food option when bashing about in the backcountry, these pouches are reasonably good, but I've gotta echo comments made by other reviewers – you need to use more water than the instructions suggest, and the seasoning level can be variable between packages (for me, one pouch was OK while the other was kinda bland). But if you're in the middle of nowhere, hot food is hot food and it beats eating granola or energy bars for a meal. For vegetarians seeking viable meal options for their backpacks, these might work well.

This Irish Shepard's Pie was a great meal while backpacking. Reconstituted well and had a good flavor. Was skeptical due to the price, which is lower than many similar products at REI, but was pleasantly surprised. Will purchase again for the next adventure.

Great principles, very promising ingredient's list, not so good execution, a bitter/spicy after taste, that's my thought after every pack Ive savoured for the last 6 packs of 5 flavours. I have indeed bought numerous packs and will likely continue, but im writing this because I feel like something is not quite right.1. Great ingredients esp for those who want to savour the real natural thing, nothing artificial and extra. However, what gets me from enjoying the fullest, is the spices. I enjoy spicy food, but in this line of meal, thats TOO MUCH. After a pack, my mouth is the heat from black peppers. Very bad the spices cover the natural beauty of other veggies.Actually I cook the meals instead of adding boiling water as this is as my emergency supplies. Actually for the last batch i had i enjoyed them at the last 3 to 4 months, still in edible condition but the spices ruin everything (2 times stronger than fresh).2. Protein = beans. sometimes I didn't mind them if they dont take too much time to get soaked, but there's proportionately more than i expected and I do not appreciate cooking for 10 mins and beans (sometimes with larger chunks of potato) are still not ready.I love this brand and i hope the ingredients will remain clean and natural. But to up its game, the spices issue must be addressed. Maybe a new variant?

I got food poisoning on the second day of a 3 day backpacking trip. I suspect it was from this and will not purchase this again.Aside from that it did not taste good. It just seems like random dehydrated vegetables.I tried it for the low sodium. I will not buy it again because of the food poisoning.

First, the important thing - the company. Had to reach out to them on an issue. With THAT said - they responded immediately (!!!), they responded clearly and concisely, and they did not require me to repeat myself six times. They also were extremely nice and great to deal with!!! So great I joined the companies group on their own web site.Second, and extremely important, the food. I tend to have to go long periods of eating these types of food and was looking for something different. This is different and gives me a couple more menu items while being easy to carry. They are VERY light, mix easy and taste good. Are they perfect? I tasted only the version 1 of their Irish Sheps Pie; having been married to a British woman and having family who had a business in Ireland I know the flavor and wasn't dissatisfied in the least! The ex-wife does make a better version but I will leave that as a secret and not admit it to her. Version 2 is being sent to me; I will add to this after trying it.Now, just FYI. My "camping" is usually in wartime conditions - currently in Ukraine but in many other places. Most of these non-military meals are packed in foil that is hardy but not great; I always shrinkwrap meals either in a "one day" group or even a couple. The heavy plastic shrink wrap gives the foil extra protection and keeps then outside of the pack clean when backpacks, uniforms and everything else can sometimes get pretty gross. I mean really horrible and with things you really might not want on the outside of a food package while at the same time you do not have the luxury of losing meals. Adds weight but ...It was a fair size of food though definitely not enough when burning tons of calories. I found it great when stuck in a location and not burning the calories but WANTED a little more otherwise.Buy or not to buy? Buy. They are a bit expensive but really add a different flavor to the standard meals.I will be trying both the Gualash and the Ukraine Borsche next. Having spent time in the formers country and currently married to a person from Ukraine who cooks awesome Borsche (both "red" and "green" though I prefer "green") it will be an interesting taste test. I may even make it up for the in-laws :)

I was looking for filling vegan gluten-free backpacking meals that weren’t loaded with sodium or non-whole foods. This checked most of those boxes. The flavor was great. But even after letting sit to hydrate much longer (felt like 3x as long) the meal was not fully rehydrated leaving it chewy and sticking to my teeth. But I was hungry and ate it anyway. I had hiked 10 miles with decent elevation so was pretty hungry and it didn’t fill me up. Supplemented with snacks. Glad I didn’t get the single serving!!! I’m used to eating lower calorie dense meals with larger quantity so maybe that affected me…

Ordered this for a couple day camping trip. Took some digging to find a healthy freeze-dried meal company, but I’m glad I did. Next trip I take I will definitely be buying more of these. If you are used to eating clean, healthy food then you will find this is filling and full of flavor. However, if your taste buds are used to MSG, excitotoxins, and super salty foods then your taste buds won’t pick up on the natural flavor of this meal. Small companies like this that offer healthy alternatives need to be promoted in my opinion. Overall it was a good, filling meal. Make sure to shake up the bag really well and definitely let the bag sit 15-20 minutes so it is fully cooked through. Otherwise there will be some chewy patches as you are eating. Great product and well worth the money.

It's actually nice, really nice compared to a vegie food and the fact that hunger makes everything better. But, it contains to much spices. That's the only downside of it.240ml of water won't cook it, more about 350ml.The vegetables need a lot of water to get softer.
