Worked on one rug only.. blade becomes too dull to use again.. if you only need to use once if works well, don’t buy if you plan on trimming more than one rug pad

I bought these for cutting down 3M furnace filters for use in my air purifier. They cut the filter paper, cardboard edge and metal mesh well. The angled shears are great for keeping my fingers away from the sharp metal edges. (Note: use gloves for metal!)The one critique I have is that the latch does not release after squeezing the shear handles together with one hand. I usually have to pull the latch free with my other hand.I needed to cut some heavy duty steel flashing for my balcony renovation. My tin snips were warping the edge and leaving sharp spines all along it. I figured I'd try these Canary shears since they have a straight cutting edge. Even if it destroyed the shears I needed to finish the job quickly and it would be worth it. These shears handled the job admirably; I quickly and easily cut 14 feet of flashing lengthwise. I've noticed that the shears don't cut furnace filters as as well as before, but this was expected. The flashing was not the flimsy kind you find at Home Depot, but a thick piece of bonderized angle flashing from a pro shop.I have another pair of Canary shears and they are also high quality. I am impressed with this company.

We are putting carpet squares in our basement and need to cut to size around the edges of the room. These cut perfectly and were easy on the hands. Nice and sharp. Came quickly and are high quality especially for the great price.

It’s great when it works! I was cutting the carpet but it kept getting stuck and it made my hands cramp after a while of use but maybe I just needed a banana because monkey never cramps. Monkeys eat banana and never cramps. Wish they were longer too but it did it’s job.

Really sharp blades. Good handle. But failed to cut up old, thick carpet. Decided to try it on heavyweight cardboard before returning. Success! Easily cut up large cardboard to recycle. Now it’s a keeper

These are very sharp scissors. They are well-made, with tight tolerances at the pivot joint and along the length of the blades, which are perfectly aligned. When I first used them, they did not open or close smoothly, but a drop of very thin oil around the pivot and a coating of wax along the blades made them feel like a precision instrument. They cut cleanly through thick materials. DO NOT use the long blades for metal (I didn't try) and they should last a long time. As with all scissors, don't twist the blades while cutting. If you are not getting the cut, back out and try again. The offset angle of the blade from the handles makes cutting a long piece easy, as the handles do not push into the cut when opening the blades as happens with straight scissors and shears. Note the rounded tips of the blades; this lets you carry the scissors safely in your pocket. The spring mechanism eliminates the hand fatigue caused by having to open the scissors manually. The handles are not the most comfortable, but they won't hurt your hand. Follow the directions on where to place your hand when grasping the handles. If you place your index finger above the top flare on the lower handle, you will pinch (most painfully) the skin at the base of the index finger. Otherwise, this is a scissors worth investing in. This is a very good quality lightweight tool that does an excellent heavyweight job. I would buy this again.

I was very disappointed by this purchase especially after reading such glowing reviews. The grip is very uncomfortable and I did not find carpet cutting possible. The edge of the carpet has to be at the inner edge of the blades, and required a lot of force. In the end I used a simple scalpel blade, which costs pene. Beware.
