Work great. Lights easily. Note the video where you fray it apart to light with a ferro rod.

Best fire starter I have ever used. So simple and light weight I even takea few on day hikes. You never know when something could go wrong.Mainly we use them car camping and back packing as a safety tool.

This stuff is amazing. It makes starting a fire so much more easily. It's nice to have this in my bug out bag and ready for the zombie apocalypse.

The hard question was how to write a review for something probably 4+. I didn't think it a full 5, but it was strictly personal preference. Here are the pros: This will work. It is a compacted cotton fibrous material that is inside a stiff fiber case. Not too stiff to not be able to tear it open and spread the material apart, but tight and stiff enough to make it compact and transportable/packable for emergencies. Once torn open, it will easily be able to spread through additional material, leaves, grass, twigs and would light with a variety of ignition methods, including ferro rods. The cons are two: It is not saturated or coated with any additional flammable substance such as lighter fluid; parafin; or even 100 percent petroleum jelly. This can also be considered a plus as you wouldn't get that on your clothes or hands, with one exception, the second downside: It would not do well if it got wet. Consequently, I will pack mine in small pieces of parchment paper and placed in a plastic bag before storing in a fire kit. With all that in mind, it got a 4-star in my evaluation, but I do highly recommend this product.

This product does exactly what it says it does. After unraveling the cotton and lighting it with a regular match, I was surprised to see how easily it lit. I then tried again, but this time, I used my fire rod- the tinder lit on the first strike.Burn time is just enough to get your fire started, and their light weight and small size encourages use during backpacking and back country camping.I'd advise using these on your first few camping trips, or in my case, if the environment is extremely wet or filled with snow.
