I had to return mine. The width of the pliers was to wide to close. It made the adjacent balls to close to the one you wanna clamp, not allowing you close or clamp that one ball, because the other two are inside the plier as well, not allowing you to close all the way. So this was a big fail for me. Perhaps if the connecting wires that link the balls were longer (dumbells), allowing for the balls to be farther apart so you can close, then it may work. My suggestion, make sure to measure how far apart are your balls from the other vs the width of the tool. It make vary from one manufacturer to the other, unless there's an industry standard to how far they measure apart, I dunno?! But this was a big fail for me.

I couldn't believe that this thing worked as easily and well as it did. Although the pictures and Amazon description show you what it does, I'll add my own experience. In my (120-year-old) bathroom, the light above the mirror operates by a pull-chain. There's a short "bead" chain of about six inches that hangs down directly from the fixture, and there has always been a longer chain attached to the short one for ease of use. One day, the bottom bead of the short chain broke off from the longer extension, so now we were down to a very short chain as the only means of turning on the light. I tried and tried to reattach the longer chain, but I couldn't make the attachment link work. I got the old, broken-off bead out of it, but I couldn't separate the two halves, and I couldn't force the "new" bottom bead of the short chain into that attachment link.I got this pair of pliers that are made for that specific purpose, and they worked like a charm. First, I put that attachment link into the topmost part of the jaws of the pliers. When you squeeze the handle, it pushes a pin into the end of that link and opens it up. Then I put the bottom bead of the short chain inside the attachment link, put the whole thing into the corresponding-sized segment of the jaws of the pliers, and squeezed lightly. It closed the end of the link around that bead, and the whole thing is as good as new. Now, even the shortest person in the household has no problem turning on the light! If it worked so well and so easily, why the four stars instead of five? There are two reasons. The first is that the pliers are a little bit pricey for a tool that really only has one use, and a fairly obscure one at that. I mean, after all, how often do you have to put chains back together? The other reason is because the tool came in packaging that had not one word of English on it. If I weren't a fairly mechanically inclined person, I wouldn't have known what to do with it or how to use it. I figured it out and it worked, but not everyone would be able to. But if you NEED a tool like this, then this is a good choice because it worked exactly the way you would hope for it to work!

These stainless steel joining pliers are exactly what I needed for working with metal chain. The grip is comfortable, and they’re designed well to make joining links quick and secure. The stainless steel feels solid and durable, so I’m confident they’ll hold up over time. I’ve used them for several projects now, and they’ve made the process a lot easier and more efficient. Whether you're working with smaller or larger chains, these pliers give you the control you need to get a strong, reliable connection every time.
